President's Message

Greetings! Welcome to Bloomsburg University!

There is no doubt in my mind that your time spent at Bloomsburg University will be something that you will never forget.  It is important to keep in mind that this university is more than the bricks that create the many buildings.  The vital part of these structures is what happens inside them.  The quality of experience of a BU student is in the student's own hands.  In the end, it is what each student makes of their college years.

There are over 200 student organizations for students to join at BU.  These organizations present ways to gain leadership experience, make connections with important faculty, and most importantly build friendships that will last a lifetime.

The Community Government Association (CGA) is just one organization for students. CGA is YOUR student government, which represents students by managing student fees of over 7,000 undergraduates and by working as an important liaison between students and faculty and staff of this University. CGA also manages and operates the student union, the bookstore, and the student REC center.  This unique organization encourages students to get involved in university issues and provide student imput at all levels of university governance.

Your CGA Executive Board and student senate are geared up and excited to undertake the upcoming year's issues.  We will do our best to address everything from parking, to professors, to advising, along with any other issues brought to our attention.  We will be closely working and communicating with university administration and town officials to make your experience at BU memorable.

Check out our website www.bucga.com or call the CGA office at 389-4467.  I encourage each and every one of you to become part of the CGA team.  New senator elections are held in early September.  Furthermore, all CGA senate meetings are open, and I personally invite you to attend.

Good luck.  I hope to have you as part of the CGA team.  I wish you all the best.  The future is in your hands.

Joshua O' Brien
